Harambe statue stares down Wall Street's charging bull
NEW YORK - There's a new statue on Wall Street.
A towering, 7-foot bronze statue of Harambe the gorilla was erected directly across from the famous charging bull sculpture in New York City's financial district on Monday.
Harambe was shot and killed in 2016 at the Cincinnati Zoo after he picked up and dragged a 3-year-old boy who had climbed into his enclosure.
The founders of the social networking platform Sapien.Network said they put up the statue, along with thousands of bananas at the base of the charging bull, to represent how Wall Street has "gone bananas."

The group said it is meant to show "the millions of everyday people who struggle under a system that enriches wealthy elites and leaves the average person behind."
The organizers said the fruit will be donated to a local food bank.
