Here is what's open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day

The Brief

    • Here is a list of places that will be open and closed on New Year's.
    • Target and Walmart are open, but you should check with your local stores to see special hours.
    • Mail and packages will not be delivered on New Year's Day and U.S. post offices will be closed.

TAMPA - As we turn the calendars from 2024 to 2025 on Tuesday at midnight, some businesses and public services will be closed for the holiday.

Here is a list of places that will be open and closed.

Banks

Many banks close on New Year's Day but not all do. Check your local branch for hours of operation.

That is due to the Federal Reserve observing the New Year's Day holiday. 

Grocery stores

Private retailers have the option of staying open or closed on major holidays. 

Sam's Club, Aldi, Costco and Trader Joe's will be closed on New Year's Day.

Target and Walmart are open, but you should check with your local stores to see special hours.

Mail delivery

Mail and packages will not be delivered on New Year's Day and U.S. post offices will be closed.

Many UPS and FedEx services will also be closed.

Convenience stores

Walgreens will have regular operation hours, but some pharmacy hours will vary.

CVS will also have regular hours but certain non-24-hour locations will have different hours.
