The Hernando County Sheriff's Office says a mechanical failure caused its 911 and administrative phone lines to go down for voice calls on Thursday.

That mechanical failure was linked to an uninterrupted power supply, which caused HCSO's outage at the communications center.

The vendor had been onsite since Wednesday along with HCSO's IT department, according to officials. During the repairs done on Thursday, there was another interruption, but that has since been resolved.

According to HCSO, calls were being sent to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, which then relayed information to Hernando County for a response.
