High school student arrested for possession of child porn
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - A Hernando County high school student is under arrest, accused of possessing child pornography.
Timeline:
On Jan. 3, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office began their investigation.
Probable cause was established to support a warrant for 18-year-old Matthew Woolever's cellphone.
On Jan. 30, detectives found him at Weeki Wachee High School, where he is a student, and took possession of his cellphone.
Detectives say Woolever told them he was the owner of the social media account, which contained child sex abuse material. Woolever also told them he was aware of the content being on his account.
The Charges
Matthew Tyler Woolever was arrested and charged as follows:
- Possession of child pornography (3 counts)
- Unlawful use of a two-way communication device (1 count)
Woolever was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center and is being held without bond.

Sheriff Al Nienhuis has a zero tolerance for possession of child sexual abuse material. Any and all tips are, and will be, meticulously investigated.
Any person who possesses material of this nature will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
