Hillsborough fire captain arrested on 100 counts of child pornography: HCSO
TAMPA, Fla. - A Hillsborough County Fire Rescue captain was arrested Thursday on 100 counts of child pornography, according to investigators.
What we know:
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said HCFR Captain Marshall Van Nelson, 52, is accused of having more than 300 images and videos of child sexual abuse material on numerous of his electronic devices.
Detectives with HCSO's Internet Predator United said those images and videos were found during an initial search at a Hillsborough County location. They had obtained a search warrant for the location following an investigation.

The sheriff's office said their investigation into this case remains active.
What they're saying:
"The actions of this individual are not only vile and deeply disturbing but also a betrayal of the trust placed in those who are meant to protect and serve," said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. "There is no place in our community for such reprehensible behavior. I commend the efforts of our Internet Predator Unit detectives, whose relentless pursuit of justice has ensured that this offender will be held accountable for these unacceptable actions."
What we don't know:
No other information was released on what led detectives to Van Nelson or what location they searched when serving the search warrant.
