Ice skating returns at Tampa's Winter Village
TAMPA (FOX 13) - It's beginning to feel like the holidays in downtown Tampa as Winter Village in officially open. During its seven-week run, the attraction will transform Curtis Hixon Park into a winter wonderland complete with lights and fake snow.
The village will feature local boutiques, as well as unique drinks and food for holiday visitors to enjoy. The park will also be home to a 5,000 square foot outdoor ice rink made with real ice.
Also returning for the 2018 season is the TECO Line Streetcar as the Winter Village Express. Riders can enjoy holiday treats, music and activities during the non-stop ride on select Sundays.
On November 30, visitors will be able to catch a movie in the park after Tampa's Tree Lighting Ceremony.
However, downtown Tampa is introducing some new sights to Winter Village for the 2018 season. Lights have been installed on Oak trees around the park and will be choreographed to music on the hour, giving visitors a unique 360-degree light show.
Winter Village is also home to two sand sculptures crafted by local artists Sandtastic.
The winter attraction will be open from November 16 to January 5. For ticket prices and Winter Village Hours, visit www.wintervillagetampa.com.
Tickets are $14 per person for 90 minutes of skating. That includes the price of skate rentals.
