Your Christmas may be merry this year, but some kids in Polk County won't be as lucky.

The Marine Corps League Toys for Tots is making a last-minute push to bring in donations and make the holidays bright for kids in need.

“We are in desperate need of toys to fill all of these orders,” Dave Waller told FOX 13.

Waller heads up the program in Polk County.

This year, Toys for Tots has more orders than ever before. The group hopes to help 11, 300 kids. That’s 2,000 more kids than last year.

“We’re hearing from the community that we have children from Puerto Rico that have moved into our area, as well as families that have been devastated from Hurricane Michael in the Panhandle who have moved into our area temporarily,” said Waller.

Waller says they are looking for toys for kids up to 13 years old. They don’t accept computers or clothes.

Toys can be dropped off at any of the 375 drop-off sites around Polk County, including Publix stores.
