Inverness man struck by pickup truck, run over by RV he was directing out of park: Troopers

An Inverness man who was helping an RV back out of an RV park died Wednesday evening after he was hit by a pickup truck and run over by the vehicle he was directing, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a 30-year-old Dunnellon man was driving a Dodge pickup truck around 6:20 p.m. eastbound on State Road 44.

At the same time, the Inverness man was standing in the highway helping to direct an Allegro RV driver back out of an RV park, according to FHP.

Troopers say the driver of the pickup truck did not see the Inverness man and hit him near the intersection of North Maynard Avenue.

Upon impact, troopers say the pedestrian fell to the ground and was run over by the driver of the RV, a 64-year-old man from Alabama.

He died at the scene.
