GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Laughter is the best medicine, after all! Tens of millions of Facebook users have met and laughed out loud with Candace Payne over the past few days.
A video surfaced of Payne called "It's the simple joys in life," featuring Payne in her car outside a Kohl's store following her purchase of a noisy Chewbacca mask. Payne laughed uncontrollably because each time the toy's mouth opened, the mask let out Chewy's howl.
In less than two days, the clip has reached more than 110 million views on Facebook and has already broken the record as the most-watched Facebook Live video ever, according to the BBC.
Friday evening, two Kohl's representatives Frances Pipes and Jeff Samuelson surprised Payne and her family at her home in Grand Prairie, Texas. "It is so crazy. it's the craziest day ever," said Payne.
Kohl's wanted to thank Payne for being a loyal customer and surprised her and her family with additional chewy masks for the entire family. Payne recently celebrated her birthday and Kohl's wanted to keep the celebration going by giving her a $2,500 Kohl's gift card and 10,000 reward points. "We don't want you to have to stress about sharing your Chewbacca mask anymore," said the representative.
“Candace made the Internet’s day, so we wanted to make hers,” Kohl’s wrote on its Facebook page.
Founder and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, invited Payne to Facebook Headquarters on Tuesday and had a very special surprise waiting for her. The Chewbacca mask video got 141 million views and is not the most-watched Facebook Live video ever.
In the pics, the duo are seen riding their bikes together, chatting over a cup of coffee and even posing with a Facebook sign outside the building.
