Police arrest 'Peeping Tom' at mobile home park

Kailey Tracy reports

A man accused of ‘peeping’ into a home in the Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park in Largo has been arrested.

According to the Largo Police Department, 35-year-old Eder Antonio Martinez Lezcano was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He has been charged with loitering and prowling.

Ron Hubbard says he installed multiple cameras and lights on his property after he caught a man, later identified as Martinez Lezcano, looking into his home at least three times recently.

"It was just very concerning that he would look and see my wife and young child and then lean in for a peek," Hubbard said.

Hubbard said the suspect showed up on Monday but never made it to the window, because his new floodlights scared the peeper away.

"I actually opened up the door and basically started screaming that the cops were going to come," Hubbard said.

Following Martinez Lezcano’s arrest, Hubbard said he and his family, including his three young children, can sleep a little easier.

According to court documents Martinez Lezcano lives on the other side of the mobile home park. Hubbard said he and his family didn’t know or recognize him.

At his first appearance Wednesday morning, his bond was set at $2,000. A no contact order was also issued mandating that he stay away from Hubbard’s home.

"It helps knowing that there's an extra line of, you know, something from the judge that says, ‘we're going to take this serious,’" Hubbard said. "We're more alert. There's more alertness to the surroundings. You know, crazy stuff happens all the time. So, really just stay alert at all times. And it's weird that we live in that kind of world, but it is how it is."

Hubbard said he hopes the community stays vigilant too.

"He might have learned his lesson, but more than likely it’ll just be another victim another day," Hubbard said.

Martinez Lezcano’s wife said Wednesday this all came as a shock to her. She doesn't get home from work until after midnight, and thought he was home the whole time taking care of their two children. She said he’s always home when she gets back.

His next court date is March 6.
