MacDill AFB honor fallen police officers
TAMPA (FOX 13) - MacDill Air Force Base took time Sunday to honor our community’s fallen police officers.
The 927th Air Refueling Wing hosted a National Peace Officer ceremony with its own law enforcement reservists as well as local agencies.
They say it’s important to remember that dozens of people on the base wear both military and police uniforms and when Air Force reservists leave home to serve; it’s the local police who keep their families safe.
“Being in the military, we hear that ‘thank you for your service’ so often and it’s often forgotten or just not said enough that our local civil servants,” said Sgt. Adam C. Borgman with the 927th Air Refueling Unit. “These police officers that are protecting our families while we are deployed and we need to make sure to reach back out to them to tell them thank you for their service because it’s essential.”
Sunday kicks off National Police Week with events honoring men and women in uniform across the country.
