$1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot claimed by NJ resident: Will they stay anonymous?
NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The lucky winner has finally come forward to claim a huge lottery prize, ending a nearly nine-month-long mystery.
So, who won the $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot?
Lottery officials say a New Jersey resident has submitted the winning ticket after buying it at a ShopRite in Neptune Township for the March 26 drawing.
However, the winner's name will not be released!
"The New Jersey player values privacy and has chosen to remain anonymous. A 2020 New Jersey law allows lottery winners to remain anonymous indefinitely," the NJ Lottery said.
Time was running out to claim the $1.13 billion jackpot, which is the fifth largest in the game's history.
The anonymous winner will receive the cash value of the prize, which is $537.5 million before state and federal taxes.
