More cold weather ahead as arctic air brings chilly temperatures to Florida

The Tampa Bay Area is feeling the chilly air from an arctic blast, and the colder temperatures will stick around at least a little longer.

Temperatures dropped to around the freezing mark in our inland northern zones on Wednesday morning, with most of Citrus County under a freeze warning until 9 a.m.

Thursday morning will bring another cold, crisp start with temperatures in the 30s and 40s and wind chills as low as the 20s, according to FOX 13 Meteorologist Valerie Mills.

The trend continues on Thursday afternoon, when temps will once again stay below 60 in many areas – about 15 degrees below average.

Our warmest day for at least the next week will be Friday, with the high approaching 70 degrees before another cold front arrives and brings rain on Saturday.

"The chill is going to stick around for the next couple of weeks as we keep these up-and-down temperature trends going," Mills said.
