More cold weather ahead as arctic air brings chilly temperatures to Florida

FOX 13 Meteorologist Valerie Mills says the trend of chilly temperatures will continue on Wednesday, with highs in the 50s and 60s before another cold, crisp start on Thursday.

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Area is feeling the chilly air from an arctic blast, and the colder temperatures will stick around at least a little longer.

Temperatures dropped to around the freezing mark in our inland northern zones on Wednesday morning, with most of Citrus County under a freeze warning until 9 a.m.

Warnings and advisories were in place for parts of the Bay Area on Wednesday morning.

Areawide, morning lows dropped to the 30s and 40s with wind making it feel even colder.

Timeline for more cold weather

By the numbers: FOX 13 meteorologists say parts of the Bay Area will likely reach the 60s for afternoon highs on Wednesday, with other areas only topping out in the 50s again.

Highs will once again struggle to reach 60 degrees in some areas on Wednesday.

Thursday morning will bring another cold, crisp start with temperatures in the 30s and 40s and wind chills as low as the 20s, according to FOX 13 Meteorologist Valerie Mills.

The wind chill could fall into the 20s in some areas on Thursday morning.

The trend continues on Thursday afternoon, when temps will once again stay below 60 in many areas – about 15 degrees below average.

Highs will stay in the 50s across much of the Bay Area on Thursday as the cold snap continues.

Our warmest day for at least the next week will be Friday, with the high approaching 70 degrees before another cold front arrives and brings rain on Saturday.
