TAMPA, Fla. - Anyone with unused prescription drugs can safely dispose of them on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at several Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Sarasota County locations. It's part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
Law enforcement agencies across the country are collecting unwanted medication Saturday to get it off the street and disposed of properly.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the annual event is meant to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way for residents to get rid of prescription drugs while educating people about the danger of opioid abuse.
During the 2019 Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a total of 1,015 pounds of unwanted medication was collected in Hillsborough County.
