New Orleans attack suspect had no criminal intent during his Tampa visit: FBI
What we know
TAMPA - The FBI says 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the man responsible for the deadly New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans, had no criminal intent when he visited Tampa during a three-day period between October 26 and 28, 2024.
Since the attack, the FBI has investigated and continues to investigate hundreds of leads across the United States.
At this time, the FBI believes there is no indication that Jabbar made any significant contact with anyone in the Tampa area.

Detectives interviewed people who may have encountered Jabbar and reviewed financial documents to find out what he bought while he was in our community.
The Tampa Field Office helped assist the FBI during this investigation.
What's next
The FBI says they will continue looking into Jabbar's movements during his Tampa visit.
