Newborn otter reunited with mother after becoming separated

A newborn baby otter became separated from its mother in California, but the pair happily reunited thanks to some human help.

A commercial fisherman spotted the two-day-old otter near Morro Bay on Monday and called harbor patrol.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife joined in the search to find the mother with help from the Marine Mammal Center.

Senior environmental scientist Mike Harris said they recorded the pup's cries and used a speaker to play the vocals so the mother could hear it.

The plan worked, and video from the city of Morro Bay showed the pup being tossed into the water to its mother.
