Pasco offers FREE dogs in plea for adoptions
LAND O' LAKES (FOX 13) - If you’ve ever wanted to adopt or foster a dog, now is the time.
The Pasco County Animal Services facility is “tremendously” over capacity. Volunteers and staff members say despite successful adoption days, stray and abandoned animals continue coming in at an alarming rate, and there just is not enough room for them all.
As of Tuesday, all the crates at the shelter were full, and excess dogs were being kept in an overflow room, and cared for in offices within the building.
In an effort to find them forever homes and make space at the shelter, the PCAS posted a video showing some of the adoptable dogs on their Facebook page, along with a plea for help.
“Well, we are full AGAIN! This is a video of our overflow room- these dogs are waiting for space to open up,” the caption reads.
“We are desperately in need of adopters and fosters. We are a save 90-percent facility and we can't do it on our own,” a shelter spokesperson later added. “We need the community's help. Please help us help the animals.”
The facility says adoption fees are will be waived for all dogs over 6 months old or 25 pounds.
