Pedestrian dies after stumbling in front of school bus
LUTZ (FOX 13) - A man was killed when he stumbled into traffic and was hit by a school bus. The man was suspected to have been drinking.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said it happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday. Harry Wilson, 72, was walking on Sinclair Hills Road near 24th Street North when he stumbled off the sidewalk into traffic.
A School District of Hillsborough County bus, with two children on board, was driving toward where he came into the roadway and swerved to miss him. The bus driver said Wilson fell into the rear side of the bus and was knocked to the ground.
Wilson suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at Florida Hospital.
Deputies said the bus driver stopped after the incident. The children on the bus were not hurt.
Deputies said alcohol was suspected to have contributed to Wilson's actions. His next of kin were notified.
The crash remained under investigation.
