Pedestrian dies in Oldsmar crash; deputies search for second vehicle

A pedestrian passed away after a car accident in Oldsmar, deputies said.

Pinellas County investigators said a 55-year-old driver was traveling west in his 2010 Toyota Four Runner on Tampa Road approaching St. Petersburg Drive. The upcoming intersection had a green traffic light, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred around 10:24 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies said 64-year-old Eric Feinstein was crossing the intersection when he was struck by the Toyota near the curb lane of Tampa Road and St. Petersburg Drive. A second vehicle struck Feinstein, but continued traveling west on Tampa Road. The driver of the Toyota remained on scene of the accident.

There is no description of the second vehicle, deputies said, and it’s unclear whether Feinstein was using a crosswalk. It’s also unknown whether the impact from the Toyota caused the fatal injury.

Investigators said they don’t believe speed or impairment are factors in the first crash. Deputies are searching for the driver of the second vehicle involved.
