TAMPA (FOX 13) - A pedestrian, who was traveling in a wheelchair, passed away after being struck by a car overnight.
On Thursday before 4:30 a.m., a 28-year-old Tampa man was traveling eastbound in a 2019 Acura MDX on Hillsborough Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was traveling in the inside lane when a 68-year-old Tampa man was crossing west of Blue Springs Drive in his wheelchair.
Troopers said the pedestrian, Richard Thomas Parnell, entered the path of the vehicle, and was hit. They said it was a “dark roadway,” at the time of the crash.
Troopers say alcohol was not a factor in the crash and no charges were filed.
