Man dead, woman and 2 children safe after hostage situation in Pinellas Park
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - A case of domestic violence has ended in death after an hours-long standoff in Pinellas Park.
The Pinellas Park Police Department says SWAT was sent to an apartment complex near 45th Street and 76th Avenue after a 911 hang-up call was made just after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
When officers arrived, they said they heard shots being fired and "loud screaming."
Officers said 37-year-old Lee Michael Thrall had taken three hostages. Two of them were children.
They were released around noon. A few hours later, an adult female was released, according to police.
Just before 5 p.m., police said Thrall had died by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
Police did not release other details about the incident.
