Police: Four people killed in Lakeland crash

Lakeland police said four people were killed in a crash on Memorial Boulevard in Lakeland mid-day Tuesday.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. near Holly Road.

According to police, a silver Chevy sedan crossed the median and hit a green Chevrolet pickup truck pulling an empty horse trailer, and then crashed into a black Ford pickup truck. 

Lakeland police said they had not figured out why the silver sedan crossed over the center line. The driver of the sedan, identified as William McClelland, 50, of Winter Haven, and two rear passengers, identified as Lisa Vorholzer, 54, of Winter Haven and Linda Henson, 66, of Winter Haven, were all pronounced dead at the scene. 

The sedan's front passenger, identified as Ernest Manley, 87, of Winter Haven, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet pickup had non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford pickup was not taken to the hospital

The roadway was shut down for approximately five hours.
