Program helps domestic violence survivors with financial security
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Financial security can be a primary factor preventing people in situations of domestic violence from leaving an abusive partner, but a new program from the state aims to help with the transition.
It's called "Your L.I.F.E.", an acronym for Learn Individual Financial Empowerment. The goal is to help survivors of domestic violence repair their credit, save money and budget.
Florida's chief financial officer is teaming up with domestic violence shelters across the state to help teach economic independence to survivors, preparing them to be financially secure when they choose to leave a violent partner.
The choice to leave is the first step. For help getting started, visit the Your L.I.F.E. website, http://fcadv.org/news/your-life.
