Publix introduces Tampa Bay Bucs subs
TAMPA (FOX 13) - A partnership between Publix and the Buccaneers naturally has netted a sandwich named in the team's honor.
Publix created special sandwiches for stores in several cities where there is an NFL team.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sandwich is made up of a white sub roll, guacamole, Boar's Head spicy jerk turkey, Boar's Head Chipotle Gouda, shredded lettuce, mango peach salsa with lightly crushed plantain chips.
Someone described it as a 'taco in a sub,' said Brian West, Publix media relations manager.
The Miami Dolphins sandwich is similar to the Bucs' sandwich, but with chipotle chicken. The Jacksonville Jaguars have a BBQ-bacon-coleslaw combination.
The Atlanta Falcons sandwich has a little peach flair with mango-peach preserves on maple chicken tenders.
Publix said it tried to create the sandwiches in a way that best represents each market.
The Bucs sub is only available until mid-October.
