TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Days after a teen was hit and killed by an undercover Hillsborough County deputy, his family is still waiting for answers.
A memorial at the crash scene continued to grow Thursday morning for 15-year-old Josiah Pinner. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said they are continuing to investigate the accident that killed the teenager on Friday.
At the time, investigators said Josiah was crossing North Florida Avenue when the undercover deputy, who was traveling in an unmarked car, saw Josiah’s friend crossing the street. The deputy swerved to avoid the friend, but ended up hitting Josiah.
Friends, family, and community members gathered at the spot Thursday night, chanting "justice for Joshiah" and holding signs promoting safer roadways.
Josiah’s parents have expressed their frustration, saying the sheriff’s office has remained tight-lipped during the investigation into their son’s death. They want answers, they said.
"It's been hell. It's been tough," said Jesse Pinner, Josiah's father.
The parents said witnesses told them there could be more to the story, but the sheriff’s office they cannot release further information during their investigation.
Those participating in the march plan to rally around 6:30 p.m. at a nearby Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office substation about two miles away from the memorial.
