SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota police are investigating a string of car burglaries involving Kia vehicles reported Monday morning, according to authorities.
The Sarasota Police Department said the car burglaries happened near Sarasota Avenue and 40th Street, and they believe the same group od suspects are responsible in the crimes.

Officers are urging residents to lock their cars when they are parked and left unattended.
In the past year, som cities have seen a sharp rise in theft for Kia and Hyundai vehicles, especially certain models made between 2010 and 2021. Law enforcement officials have said the cars can be easier to steal.
No other information was immediately available from police in Sarasota.
