Man found dead after falling out of canoe on Chassahowitzka Bay: Hernando deputies

The body of a man reported missing after falling out of a canoe on Chassahowitzka Bay has been found, according to Hernando County deputies 

Multiple agencies responded to the area near the Hernando and Citrus line to search for the man. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office said just before 4 p.m. Saturday, boaters noticed an unmanned motorized canoe circling in the bay. 

The boaters quickly found a 17-year-old boy clinging to a floating marker, according to deputies. He said he and the victim fell out of the canoe.

Boaters weren't able to find the other man, and Hernando County deputies began their search. They said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Citrus County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search. 

The 17-year-old is currently recovering in the hospital.
