Seffner residents evacuated after sinkhole opens
SEFFNER (FOX 13) - A sinkhole opened up on the side of a Seffner home Friday evening, prompting nearby residents to be evacuated.
Hillsborough County authorities said the sinkhole opened on Clay Pit Road shortly before 7 p.m.
According to code enforcement officials, the sinkhole is approximately 27 feet deep and 22 feet across.
County officials said because the sinkhole is on private property, they can't go in and fill it. It will be up to the homeowner to contact their insurance company to take care of the sinkhole.
At least two surrounding homes have been evacuated. There are no reports of injuries.
