NEW PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) - A shelter dog taken in by SPCA Suncoast just a few days ago is a new mom this Mother's Day - after giving birth to 16 puppies!
Maggie quickly became a staff favorite after coming to the facility on Wednesday from Hernando County Animal Services. On Friday, she was brought to the SPCA Suncoast Medical Manager's home so she would have direct supervision and care as her delivery time got closer.
On Saturday night, Maggie's motherly instincts started taking over and she started nesting, and at around 11:32 p.m. she started having contractions.
Shortly after midnight Maggie became a mom - delivering her first puppy on Mother's Day!
