ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - The St. Petersburg Museum of History wants Bay Area visitors to Cuba to help fill its Experience Cuba exhibit by submitting personal photos from their trips.
Experience Cuba opens June 15 and features the photography of Clyde Butcher, as well as original artwork of Cuban artists Los Carpinteros and Ibrahim Miranda.
There are three categories to which photos may be submitted for the exhibit: Community, Culture and History.
The museum said the Community category will help capture the true local culture and history of Cuba.
The Culture category will highlight the people, places and activities of present-day Cuba.
The History category will feature stories and photographs of old Cuba. Cuba visitors are encouraged to submit family photos and share their stories of a life, or time in Cuba.
The deadline for digital or scanned photographs to be submitted is June 3, 2016. Submission may be sent to cuba@spmoh.org.
Digital images should be 300dpi and no larger than 5MB. All submissions must include the applicant's name, telephone number and information about the photo, such as location and date shot.
Applicants may submit no more than three photos per category, and be required to sign an ownership release form for any photos selected for the exhibit.
A Museum selection committee will meet June 4 to choose photographs to be included in the Experience Cuba exhibit.
Photographers whose work is chosen will be invited to the Museum Members private opening on June 14.
Experience Cuba is presented by AARP and the Florida Humanities Council.
