St. Pete suspect in downtown shooting that left 7 injured turns himself in: Police

The suspect in the shooting that left seven injured in downtown St. Petersburg has turned himself in to police more than two weeks later, investigators said. 

The St. Pete Police Department said Deronke Rashad Barron, 20, turned himself into the Pinellas Jail Tuesday afternoon. He's been arrested on multiple charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm in public, according to authorities.

Barron and a group of men got into a fight on the sidewalk at 3rd Street North near Central Avenue in downtown St. Pete. Officers said the altercation happened at around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 7.

After that, officer said shots were fired in the area, leaving three men with non-life-threatening injuries to their legs as well as two men and two women suffering from other minor injuries. 

Barron was identified as the suspect in previously released images from the night of the shooting. This came after weeks of no arrests made in the shooting.
