Suspect covers hands with socks during burglary
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - A homeowner's security camera recorded an unexpected visitor with an unexpected method for covering his alleged crime in St. Petersburg this week.
St. Pete police are now looking for a suspected burglar who apparently - in absence of regular gloves - decided to use socks as hand coverings instead.
The suspect broke into a home in the 2900 block of 15th Street N around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Police say he rummaged through the house, likely wearing the socks on his hands to conceal his fingerprints - and his identity.
It seems he realized his effort to hide his identity was futile when he sees the camera recording his every move. He walks over and obstructs the view, but the video was already saved.
Missing from the home after his socked-scouring was a bike and some electronics.
If you think you know him or have any information about this burglary, please call the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD and your tip to TIP-411 (847-411).
