Suspect dies in crash after taking off from attempted traffic stop: FHP

A suspect led Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase before crashing his car in St. Pete early Monday morning, killing him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said it started when Pinellas County deputies tried to stop the suspect, a 30-year-old man from Seminole, for a window tint violation.

A 30-year-old suspect died in a car crash in St. Pete after fleeing an attempted traffic stop.

The suspect drove off in his 2023 Dodge Charger and was later spotted driving recklessly at a high speed near Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street N and 7th Ave. S.

FHP deputies began assisting PCSO and a trooper attempted to stop the suspect by using spike strips.

The suspect was able to get away but was later located at the crash scene at 16th St. S and 7th Ave. N.
