Suspect named, charged in Brooksville triple shooting

BROOKSVILLE (FOX 13) - The suspect in Tuesday's deadly shooting of a mother and her teen daughter in Brooksville has been identified and charged by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Khristian Donyell Francis, 23, who is transient, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, and armed burglary.

Francis is accused of killing 40-year-old Taneta Morrell and her teen daughter, Brene' Marshall, inside their home on Azen Loop in the Hill n' Dale neighborhood Tuesday evening.

Marshall's alleged killer has been charged on what would have been her 17th birthday.

The Hernando High School student recently asked friends on Facebook to donate to the ASPCA for her birthday instead of giving her gifts.

Deputies were called to the family's home after neighbors reported hearing gunshots and screams.

Morrell's boyfriend, Adolphus Washington, 36, escaped from the home and was found lying outside bleeding, but still alive, by neighbors.

The shooting suspect, now identified as Francis, was seen running from the home. Deputies tracked him to a vacant house less than a mile away and took him into custody.

Francis has been held at the Hernando County Detention Center on a no bond status.
