Suspect wanted for holding 8 at gunpoint, shooting one in the head

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for one of two suspects they say held eight people at gunpoint during a robbery.

Deputies say just after 2 a.m. on October 22, 2017, Darren "Fatboy" Gipson and another suspect, Reginald Brown, held eight people at gunpoint on the ground while they robbed them at a home on Baptist Church Rd. in Tampa.

At some point during the robbery, deputies say one of the suspects fired a shot from his rifle, hitting a victim in the head. The victim sustained life threatening injuries.

The suspects stole cash and cell phones from the victims, deputies say.

Deputies arrested Brown, 25, of Spring Hill, on January 31. He is being held in jail without bond on attempted murder, armed burglary, grand theft, and drug charges.

Deputies are still searching for Gipson, who is a member of the Drak gang and has an extensive criminal history. Deputies say he was released from prison three weeks before the robbery and is now wanted on attempted murder charges.
