Suspected serial armed robber arrested in Pasco County
WESLEY CHAPEL (FOX 13) - An arrest was made after a series of armed robberies in Pasco County.
Pasco County detectives arrested 23-year-old Robert Dumas and say he is a suspect involved in five armed robberies in February.
On Sunday, a deputy conducted a traffic stop at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Eagleston Drive in Wesley Chapel. Detectives say Dumas was the driver and was arrested after the deputy found a firearm, mask, shoes and clothing matching the description from the string of armed robberies.
The robberies occurred over a period of six days, starting on February 8, when the suspect hit a Citgo gas station in Wesley Chapel. That same night, the suspect robbed the Best Western hotel near the Grove Plaza and fired a shot, deputies say. Two days later, he fired his gun again while robbing a Metro PCS store in Zephyrhills. The suspect also robbed Be Creative Painting Studio, in the Grove Plaza, and a Subway restaurant.
Dumas was arrested on five counts of armed robbery, and possession of marijuana. Pasco County detectives are expected to provide additional details during a Monday afternoon press conference beginning at 1:30 p.m.
