Tampa teacher takes painful puck to the face at Lightning playoff game

TAMPA (FOX 13) - A Tampa teacher cheering on the Tampa Bay Lightning at game two of the playoffs took a painful puck to the face just five minutes into the game. 

Sabrina Pattie and her family were seated in the first level at Amalie Arena just outside the protective netting when the puck flew into the stands. She spent most of the night at the emergency room at the hospital instead of the Lightning game. 

Photos show Pattie's injuries including a black eye and a knot on her forehead. 

Although the tickets clearly state fans assume the risk of possible injuries, the Patties think the team could install more safety measures.

"I would feel more safe and I'm sure many people would feel more safe if there were better protective measures, whether it be glass or nets," said Pattie. 

The family said they heard from the Lightning shortly before her interview with FOX 13.

The Tampa Bay Lightning went on to win Saturday night's game. The team plays game three of the seven-game series Monday night against the New Jersey Devils in New Jersey.
