Target launching same-day delivery in Florida

Soon, Target will offer same-day delivery in Florida, including Tampa, after acquiring Shipt in December.

Beginning on February 1, Shipt will deliver from Target stores in Tampa and South Florida. On February 8, the delivery option will expand to Daytona Beach, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Gulf Shores, Jacksonville, Naples, Sarasota, Orlando, Space Coast, St. Augustine, Tallahassee and Treasure Coast.

Online customers will be able to shop for an in-store assortment of groceries, home, electronics and other Target products. Shipt, which is a membership-based service for customers to place online orders from nearby stores, plans to hire more than 3,000 shoppers to fulfill the expansion.

In December, Target announced its plans to acquire the shopping service for $550 million, and plans to make the service available for most of its stores by the next holiday season, and by the end of 2019, the same-day delivery option will include “all major product categories” at Target.
