Teddy Ruxpin to make a comeback
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Teddy Ruxpin is making a comeback. The iconic talking bear from the 80's is getting some much needed technology upgrades for the kids of this era.
His name is the same, but Teddy Ruxpin 2.0 will have a slew of new features: color LCD eyes, a motorized mouth, and 40 animated expressions. His eyes won't just move up and down, but will also flash hearts, stars and even snowflakes to go along with what he's reading. Touch sensors in his hands and feet will allow your kids to change stories and turn him on or off.
There will also be a companion app that allows kids to read along.
But why bring back the beloved bear now?
Jeremy Padawer, co-president of Wicked Cool Toys, the company behind Ruxpin 2.0 explained to CNN Money, "The kids who embraced him back then are 28 to 40 years old now. They have young kids who they'd want to introduce Teddy Ruxpin to. We felt the time was right to bring back this nostalgic toy but with the right technology to fit the time."
Reports say the 14-inch-tall bear will be priced at $99, but won’t be available in stores until July 2017.
