Crews rescued two women who spent Christmas night at the bottom of a 50-foot quarry on a local golf course, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue.

According to authorities, the women fell near the 17th hole of The Quarry Course at Black Diamond Ranch on Wednesday and were found there on Thursday.

Fire officials said crews "executed a successful low-angle rescue" despite challenging weather conditions.

The women were stabilized at the scene and transferred to a local hospital to be evaluated.

CCFR did not release further information on the condition of either woman.
