LAKELAND (FOX 13) - Two people have been forced out of their Lakeland apartment following a fire at the building early Sunday morning.
Crews responded to calls and arrived on scene to find heavy smoke pouring from the building. The two people inside were awakened by smoke alarms, and managed to get out safely before crews arrived.
One person sustained minor burns, but refused medical treatment.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, but at this time they believe it was likely accidental in nature.
The Red Cross was called to provide assistance to the displaced residents.
