Vehicle fire causes big traffic backup on I-75 in Sarasota County
NORTH PORT, Fla. - A vehicle fire sent heavy smoke into the air and snarled traffic early Thursday along I-75, according to the North Port Police Department.
What we know:
Crews responded on Thursday morning along the southbound side of I-75 at mile marker 175, about halfway between exits to Kings Hwy. and Toledo Blade Blvd.

All southbound lanes were shut down at one point before one lane reopened, allowing traffic to slowly get by. All lanes reopened around 8:30 a.m.
What we don't know:
Investigators have not said anything else about the fire or possible injuries.
