Vehicle involved in Tarpon Springs triple murder located in Ohio

A stolen vehicle, related to a triple murder in Tarpon Springs, was located hundreds of miles away in Ohio, according to police.

Police in Lakewood, Ohio – a suburb just outside the city of Cleveland – located the vehicle, a 2013 Kia Sorrento, in the 1500 block of Newman Avenue. A man, who is believed to be the one who had possession of the Sorrento, was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday. WJW-TV reports the stolen vehicle is from Tarpon Springs.

Tarpon Springs police detectives are in Ohio to speak to the man, who has not been identified. The individual is being held in the Lakewood City Jail on suspicious of "receiving stolen property."

On New Year’s Day, Tarpon Springs police responded to a home at 1954 Juanita Way for a welfare check. Inside, they found the bodies of three adults and three small-breed dogs. Investigators said the bodies were in a state of “advanced decomposition.”

The victims’ identities have not been released, but detectives are investigating it as a murder. An autopsy was scheduled on Thursday.

At the time, police said the victims most likely knew the suspect or suspects, but investigators have not released any possible names of who could have committed the crime.
