TAMPA, Fla. -
Tampa police are investigating a deadly pedestrian crash.
It happened shortly before 7 a.m. near the intersection of W. Hillsborough Ave. and N. Lois Ave.
Police say a man in his 50s was crossing the street, southbound, outside a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a white Ford F350 turning eastbound onto Hillsborough Ave.
The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
Officers say the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
According to the Tampa Police Department, speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash and no criminal charges are expected.
The eastbound lanes of W. Hillsborough Avenue were closed on Monday morning, but have since reopened.
