Video: Man snatches $22K in gold from Florida mall kiosk and pawns it before arrest

A 25-year-old man faces a robbery charge after authorities identified him as the suspect who stole more than $22,000 in gold jewelry from a mall kiosk.

What we know:

Martin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations detectives identified Dezmone Johnson, 25, as the suspect in a high-value theft. Video footage showed Johnson posing as a legitimate customer at a Treasure Coast Mall kiosk while looking at several gold chains before grabbing the jewelry and running.

A second video captured Johnson at a pawn shop selling the stolen items, which totaled more than $22,000 in losses.

Detectives worked alongside the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to locate Johnson in Broward County. 

He was taken into custody, charged with robbery by sudden snatching, and added the offense to his extensive criminal history.
