A California dog can breathe easier after being rescued from a house fire.

Bakersfield Fire Department shared a video on its Facebook page of firefighters resuscitating an unresponsive pet dog from the home on Wednesday.

Firefighters laid the dog gently on the front yard grass and placed an oxygen mask over its nose. Its owner made it out of the home unscathed and observed the firefighters at work. They rubbed the dog’s belly and head coaxing it to start breathing on its own.

It worked. According to the fire department’s Facebook post, they “revived the pet using a specialized animal oxygen mask and high flow oxygen.”
