Video shows tiny pieces of plastic covering beach in Canary Islands
TENERIFE, Spain (FOX 13) - A woman on Tenerife Island in Spain found a beach completely covered in tiny pieces of plastic.
Maria Celma recorded video on the island, which is part of the Canary Islands, on March 24 during a beach cleanup at Playa Grande.
The tiny pieces of plastic could be seen covering wide swaths of the beach in Celma's video.
It's the latest in a series of incidents showing the devastating effects of pollution in the world's oceans. Recently, a juvenile whale in the Philippines was found dead with over 80 pounds of plastic bags and debris in its body.
