ST. PETESRBURG, Fla. - Tropical Storm Colin caused flooding around the Bay Area, but the flooding brought with it an unexpected, but a very welcomed, visitor for one St. Petersburg woman.
Not once, but twice, the tide pushed the water up over the seawall, causing the water to rise up to Nancy Smith's backyard, and that's when she saw it: not one, but two manatees. "Then one pulled itself up over the seawall and started snacking away on our freshly mowed grass!" Smith wrote on Instagram, where she posted her video.
"I'm so happy I recorded it!" she said.
But that wasn't all. Monday, when the tide rose, the manatee returned. "It happened again!! Rain made the water rise over the seawall even more than yesterday and a manatee just climbed up to munch on our grass! Another awesome experience..." she wrote.
