Woman beaten with weapons inside her home, man arrested on attempted murder charge: PCSO
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A man faces serious charges after a violent attack left a 22-year-old woman unconscious inside her home, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
PCSO said the victim returned to her home near St. Petersburg shortly after 3:30 a.m. Thursday and found a man standing in the dark.
According to deputies, Sean-Michael Cooper, 20, hit the woman in the head with a large glass pipe, then sprayed her with pepper spray before hitting her multiple times with a metal frying pan.
Detectives said Cooper then choked the victim, took her phone, told her he would stage an attack and demanded she take her clothes off, which she refused.
The victim later told deputies that Cooper threatened to kill her, along with her mother and her cats, if she didn't cooperate, then continued to hit her until she lost consciousness.
Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital. Her injuries are significant, but not life-threatening, deputies said.
