Woman claims rat sewn into Zara dress
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Spain-based clothing retailer Zara is being sued by a woman from Manhattan who claims a rodent was sewn into the hem of a dress she purchased in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Cailey Fiesel tells the NY Post that she noticed a "disturbingly pungent odor" when she recently first wore the coat she had purchased over the summer.
According to the lawsuit, Fiesel developed a rodent-borne disease after coming in contact with the rat.
Fiesel allegedly thought a loose string was touching her skin but it was actually the leg of the dead rodent.
She's suing for unspecified damages.
TMZ reported that Zara was investigating the case.
"Zara USA is aware of the suit, and we are investigating the matter further. Zara USA has stringent health and safety standards, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet these rigorous requirements."
